Experimental: Neuromodulation and the role of 'noise' in neural computations.Communication between large networks of neurons. Spike timing and reliability.
Rat hippocampus in vitro neurophysiology: oscillations, neuromodulation of intrinsic and network properties. Rat prefrontal cortex in vitro neurophysiology: Spike timing and reliability, reverberatory activity (using dynamic clamp and hybrid models), role of dopamine. Extracellular multi unit (tetrode) recordings in the behaving rat: modulation of place field properties by neuromodulators.
